In another year of growth and expansion, Phoenix Drilling Ltd is proud to announce the successful completion of our latest ISO (9001, 14001, and 45001) surveillance assessment, achieving zero non-conformances, alongside our SSIP accreditation.
Over the past year, we’ve significantly increased our presence across the north of Scotland and the Highlands, carrying out extensive ground investigation and drilling work in challenging terrain, including peatlands and moorlands. A particular highlight has been our geotechnical investigation for the Beauly to Peterhead 400kV transmission line upgrade.
With a growing workforce and an expanding project portfolio, we’ve ensured our HSEQ culture remains firmly embedded across every level of the business. Our processes continue to drive not just compliance, but excellence in safety, quality, and environmental standards.
This year’s ISO surveillance, once again conducted by NQA (a UKAS accredited certification body), returned zero non-conformances and delivered exceptionally positive feedback, a strong validation of the strength of our management systems. Alongside this, we’re proud to have also achieved SSIP accreditation, further demonstrating our commitment to the highest standards of health and safety.
This achievement highlights our unwavering dedication to excellence in drilling, boring, and geothermal services. It also reflects the commitment of our staff, whose professionalism, adaptability, and hard work allow us to maintain the highest standards across all our projects.

We’re delighted to announce that Joe Smith has officially moved into the role of Operations Co-ordinator at Phoenix Drilling. After many years as one of our Lead Drillers and an eagerness to progress, Joe brings a wealth of practical site experience, drilling knowledge, and a genuine understanding of what it takes to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
He is a well known and respected face throughout the business, with a fantastic can-do attitude and strong relationships with both our workforce and clients.In his new role, Joe will be working closely with the management team to support the day-to-day running of our operations. He’ll be coordinating logistics, liaising with our crews, clients and suppliers, and helping to ensure our projects continue to run smoothly and efficiently.
Joe’s knowledge and commitment make him the perfect fit for this position and we’re excited to see the positive impact he’ll continue to have within the business.

We’re delighted to welcome Lauren Meek to the Phoenix Drilling team!
Lauren joins us as our new Sample Store Assistant, taking on an important role within our engineering and laboratory support functions. She will be responsible for organising and managing samples returned from site, assisting our engineers during the sample logging process, maintaining the sample store, and preparing and retrieving samples for laboratory testing and client requirements. The sample store plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and traceability of the data we provide to our clients and Lauren’s support will help keep this process running efficiently and smoothly.
Alongside her sample store responsibilities, Lauren will also be assisting her sister, Emma, with HGV vehicle movements, helping to keep our operations moving and supporting our field teams across the UK.
Having both Lauren and Emma behind the wheel of our trucks should keep things interesting! We’re not sure whether it’ll be teamwork or sibling rivalry that gets the plant & equipment moved quickest, but we’re looking forward to finding out! 😆🚛👭
